I hate to break this to you, but hegemony does not allow you to have a platform this big without a plan. Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show was not an act of resistance — it was a carefully curated spectacle designed to make you feel like change is happening while ensuring that nothing actually changes. No shade because he is a brilliant performer, even though rap hasn't been my thing, but I hear intelligence in his rhymes!

The Manufactured Hero

We desperately seek a hero, someone to embody the struggle, someone to champion the cause. But celebrities are not it! They are paid actors in a drama meant to distract you. Look at this while we do that. The same system that silences real revolutionaries amplifies voices that serve its purpose. You don’t get a Super Bowl stage unless they know what you’re going to say unless they approve of your role in the narrative.

And Kendrick’s role? To make you think someone is fighting for you while the true resistance remains buried, unheard, unseen.
